قلعہ سوندھا سنگھ سے محمد پورہ (پل دھول) تک سڑک کی تعمیر — ایک اہم عوامی منصوبہ

قلعہ سوندھا سنگھ سے لے کر محمد پورہ (پل دھول) تک کی مرکزی سڑک کا منصوبہ الیکشن 2023 کے دوران منظوری کے بعد شروع کیا گیا تھا۔ اس وقت عوام کو اُمید تھی کہ پورا راستہ مکمل طور پر بنایا جائے گا، لیکن بدقسمتی سے اُس وقت صرف قلعہ سوندھا سنگھ تک ہی محدود کام ہوا، وہ بھی مکمل نہیں بلکہ آدھا ادھورا چھوڑ دیا گیا، جس سے عوام کو روزمرہ سفر میں شدید مشکلات کا سامنا کرنا پڑا۔

اب جبکہ مریم نواز شریف پنجاب کی وزیراعلیٰ بن چکی ہیں، انہوں نے اس منصوبے پر فوری توجہ دی اور جنوری 2025 میں سڑک کی دوبارہ تعمیر کا آغاز کروا دیا۔ کام تیزی سے جاری ہے اور اب یہ سڑک مکمل ہونے کے قریب ہے۔

یہ سڑک کئی لحاظ سے تاریخی اہمیت رکھتی ہے، کیونکہ یہ سابق وزیراعلیٰ میاں منظور احمد وٹو کے دور کے بعد پہلی بار دوبارہ تعمیر ہو رہی ہے۔ سالوں سے التوا کا شکار یہ راستہ اب دوبارہ ترقی کی راہ پر گامزن ہے۔

یہ سڑک "حجرہ چونیاں روڑ" کہلاتی ہے جو چونیاں شہر کو حجرہ شاہ مقیم سے جوڑتی ہے، اور لاہور کے سفر کے لیے ایک اہم روٹ ہے (فاصلہ تقریباً 80 کلومیٹر)۔ مریم نواز شریف کی قیادت میں پنجاب میں جاری ترقیاتی کاموں میں اس روڑ کو بھی اہمیت دی گئی ہے۔

فی الحال یہ سڑک ایک سادہ دو  سڑک ہے، لیکن مستقبل میں اس کی توسیع کا امکان ہے۔ خاص طور پر لاہور-ساہیوال-بہاولنگر موٹر وے کی تکمیل کے بعد یہ سڑک اور زیادہ اہمیت اختیار کر جائے گی۔ پل دھول کے مقام پر "حجرہ چونیاں روڑ انٹرچینج" کی تجویز دی گئی ہے، جو کہ فی الحال تعمیر نہیں ہوا، مگر مستقبل قریب میں اسے تعمیر کرنے کا منصوبہ موجود ہے۔

 یہ تصویر یکم جولائی 2025 کو پل دھول کے مقام پر لی گئی ہے، جس میں سڑک کی جاری تعمیر کو واضح طور پر دیکھا جا سکتا ہے۔ سڑک کی تیز رفتار تکمیل مقامی آبادی کے لیے سہولت، آسانی اور خوشحالی کا پیغام لائے گی۔

Reconstruction of the Road from Qila Sondha Singh to Mohammad Pur (Pul Dhool) — A Major Development Project

The road from Qila Sondha Singh to Mohammad Pur (Pul Dhool) was initially approved during the 2023 elections. At that time, locals were hopeful that the entire stretch would be completed soon. Unfortunately, only a partial segment up to Qila Sondha Singh was constructed — and even that remained incomplete. This left the local population facing serious difficulties, as this road is crucial for daily commuting, trade, and direct access to Lahore.

However, since Maryam Nawaz Sharif took office as the Chief Minister of Punjab, she has shown personal interest in restarting the project. Under her direction, the road construction was resumed in January 2025, and work has been progressing rapidly. As of now, the project is in its final stages and nearing completion.

This road carries historic significance as well — it is being rebuilt for the first time since the tenure of former Chief Minister Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, which was several years ago. The reconstruction marks a return to development in a region that had long been neglected.

Known as the Hujra Chunian Road, this route connects the towns of Chunian and Hujra Shah Muqeem, and serves as a key link for those traveling to Lahore (approximately 80 kilometers away). CM Maryam Nawaz has given this road priority among Punjab’s development projects, recognizing its importance to both the local population and intercity travel.

Currently, the road is a simple two-way route. However, with the upcoming Lahore–Sahiwal–Bahawalnagar Motorway project, there are plans to convert this road into a one-way route in the future. An interchange at Pul Dhool, named “Hujra Chunian Road Interchange,” has been proposed — although it has not yet been constructed, its development is expected to begin as part of future infrastructure planning.

The rapid pace of the project reflects the administration’s commitment to improving local infrastructure, and once completed, this road will significantly ease travel and benefit the region’s economy.
